Gavin De Becker

Gavin de Becker is widely regarded as the leading expert in the U.S. on the prediction and management of violence. As the principal in Gavin de Becker and Associates, he specializes in consultation, expert-witness testimony, public speaking, negotiation with law enforcement and prosecutors, high-stakes case management.

Gavin de Becker is the designer of the MOSAIC® threat assessment method used by many different agencies. It has been used for screening threats to eleven governors. MOSAIC® is used by the United States Supreme Court Police for threats against the Justices, and by the United States Capitol Police for screening threats directed toward members of Congress. The United States Marshals Service uses an assessment system designed by Gavin de Becker and Associates to evaluate threats to Federal Judicial officials.

He served two terms on the President's Advisory Board at the Department of Justice, and was a principal advisor on the federal research project into mentally ill people who stalk public figures. He served one term on the Governor's Advisory Board at the California Department of Health.

As a consultant on safety and privacy to many major media figures and Fortune 500 companies, he has overseen the assessment and management of more that 16,000 cases. His forty-six member firm maintains the world's largest library of threat and obsessive communications, consisting of more than 300,000 pieces of material.
