Michael Harris has been an intellectual property attorney since 1973. After graduating from Purdue University in 1969, where he received his bachelor's degree in engineering, he became an examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office and attended American University Law School. After being admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, he moved to Los Angeles and became an associate and later a shareholder of Poms, Smith, Lande & Rose, a Los Angeles IP boutique. He is now a member of SoCal IP Law Group in Westlake Village, California.
He is admitted to the State Bar of California and is registered to practice before the PTO. He has been active in bar activities including being president of the Century City Bar Association and a trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Mr. Harris's practice continues to concentrate on patent, trademark, and copyright matters. His practice includes advising clients about patent strategy, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, licensing and transfer of technology matters, and patent litigation. His trademark practice includes counseling clients about trademark strategy, protecting clients' marks, and avoiding conflicts with other companies' marks. He also represents clients in trademark oppositions and cancellations and in prosecuting and defending infringement actions.
